Pale Ash is about a young woman wandering for her own... selfish needs. Her goal is to find a trinket of the gods that will allow her to complete her ambitions. As for what they are... they might help or hinder the entire world.
Leonne glanced up from her mug in the tavern. A rowdy bunch sat only a few seats away. She ignored them and looked at her blade hilt. Taking a swig of the non-alcholic taproot juice, Leonne tossed the bartender two silver coins and took her leave. "Sellsword recruiting begins."

Miki roamed the streets staggering as she walked. She wore a ragged black cloak. to protect her from the rain A medium sized sword hung sheathed at her hip. Mud splashed, splattering all over her cut up legs. She looked at the various lighted houses, assuming she would not be accepted with the humans. Her hood was up to hide her cursed ears, her tail was glued to her back by tree sap, then hidden beneath her clothes.

Taking a step out into the pouring rain, Leonne indifferently let out a stream of curses. She slicked back her hair and took a deep breath. The smell of water against dry gravel wasn't exactly the most pleasant thing to experience. The young woman walked forth and listened to the sloshing of her boots. "Nobody would be out in weather like this." Leonne glanced up and caught sight of a black cloak.
She smirked and murmured, "Looks like I was mistaken."

Miki sloshed more mud, then spotted what seemed like another young women ahead. She walked past Leonne, pretending she was nothing but air. She was invisible to Miki, just another disgusting human who would tease and reject her.
"Why should I have to talk to one of those disgusting humans. They don't want me, I don't want them...I wish It wasn't so wet here...then I could fly off" she thought herself.

Leonne didn't turn back or even glance over her shoulder. "The rude ones are the beings who die first, neko. If I didn't know better, I'd think of you as one of the laguz. Bah." She walked off and glanced at an alleyway. One of the dogs there stood out from the others. Leonne saw the eyes of a wolf.
Cautiously Leonne approached the stray animals and clicked her tongue. "Shh... calm down, little fella." She petted the closest, a raggedy beagle pup, on the head. Gently she smoothed her fur. "Hmm."

Miki walked a few more yards before collapsing aginst a wall and coming dangerously close to unconciousness. She dug through her pockets deperately looking for something to eat. Nothing. Not even a apple core. She sighed and waited for a miracle that would never come.

Leonne glanced up and stared at the girl in the distance. She grabbed a few bronze pieces from her money pouch tied loosely around her waist. Expertly she flung them at the girl's feet. "Another day, another deed. Damn." She stood up and walked off from the alleyway.

Leonne glanced up into the stormy sky and sighed. Had it truly been only three years since his death? Yes, today marked the anniversary of his disappearance. Not that this anniversary was any better than the other two. With a sigh she grabbed her scabbard from her belt and swung it around. "So if I'm in Farcestone now, the Pyre's Dwelling is three days away from here on foot. Argh, I need companions first. Can't do this on my own. I have money but I'm not invulnerable."
Leonne looked around, feeling as if she was being watched. Anxiously she quickened her pace and noticed the raindrops freezing upon impact with her skin. "Crap. My aura flow is unstable again. Everyone has a problem now and then when they're upset, but I get unstable all the time. Yeesh."

Jyuken sat by his bedside at an inn alongside the road, awaiting the storm to cease. It had been at least 2 days, why didn't the conditons change? "...Dammit I need to get moving. Or I could simply ride through it..." He thought for a while, weighing the pros and cons. Decision made, Jyuken grabbed his pack of rations and began to walk out the inn. He passed a strange woman standing in the middle of the road, glaring at the sky. He thought she looked familiar, but passed her by and didn't give it a second thought.

Leonne stared at her feet and whistled. "Jyuken Ryzare, fifteen years old, a green recruit. Need a job?" She pushed aside her flaming red hair. The two violet discs she called irises stared at the young boy who just walked past her. Leonne had a secret pasttime and that was information dealing through mercenaries. For a while she had been in the business, resulting in her present wealth.
She took a step forward and unsheathed her sword. "Show me your skill."

Jyuken stared at her in disbelieve. How did she know his name...? He slowly gained suspicion of his previous thought, so to discover more he decided to reply. "Yea, I do... what do you have to offer?" The woman flashed her sword and pointed it at Jyuken. Disbelieving yet exited he pulled out an extremely thin yet stout sword. He did not make the first move, as his master had taught, so Jyuken slowly awaited for this mysterious woman to make a move.

Leonne chuckled and sheathed her blade. "Wise choice. Those who leap in are the fools." She dusted off her arms for no apparent reason and untied the money pouch around her waist. Leonne walked up to him and placed three gold coins - the equivalent of a silver blade's worth - into Jyuken's palm.
Leonne removed her hand and bowed her head. "Swear upon the gold of our wealth. Accept the mercenary's oath and swear loyalty to the contract. Mission Ranking: A-" Leonne smirked and added, "The only rank higher is the S category. Think you can handle it?" An air of arrogance swept around the swordswoman. The boy would run.

Jyuken remained stunned as she presented him with the money; he had not done anything except take out his blade and wait. As she informed him with the info, Jyuken jammed his sword into its sheath and slightly smiled. The woman didn't know who he was. Calmly he replied, "I would gladly accept, and I'd like to be briefed on the info. But before we go any further..." He brushed the rain droplets off his spiky white hair and asked, "What is your name?"

Leonne tilted her head to the side and replied, "Leonne Raleigh. Former information dealer of the Mercenary's Guild. I went solo at fifteen. Honed my swordsmanship." She waved her hand back in a laid-back gesture, displaying a lofty persona. With a huff she gently grabbed Jyuken by the wrist and led him under a tree away from the houses of the city.
Leonne quietly stated, "I know you've heard about the Pale Ash Amulet. Everyone has. It's the gift of the gods. I'm looking for it." Leonne took a breath and cleared her throat. "As your new employer, I work differently than most. I'll allow detours so that we can deal with your wants. For example, if you wanted to fetch a certain axe from a renowned minotaur, shoot, we're there. My mission will take as long as it needs."
